ENERGY MANAGEMENT INCORPORATED (EMI) PAWTUCKET POWER ASSOCIATES Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA EPC CONTRACTOR: EBASCO SERVICES INC. DESCRIPTION: 68 MW Natural Gas/Oil Fired, Combined Cycle Cogeneration plant consisting of a single gas turbine generator exhausting into a three pressure Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) supplying steam to a single condensing steam turbine generator with uncontrolled extraction. Plant consists of the following systems that are controlled via the Distributed Control System. Gas Turbine Generator (GE – Frame 6) - Limited Control Steam Turbine Generator (ABB) - Limited Control Heat Recovery Steam Generator (Nooter/Eriksen) Duct Burner (John Zink) Gas Compressor System Auxiliary Boiler with combustion control Export Steam System @ 15 KPPH, 185 PSIG Chiller Unit (added in 1994 by Niagara Blower) Electrical System Monitoring with integral SOE All Balance of Plant Systems – Condensate, Feedwater, Fuels, Mechanical Auxiliaries, etc.
CONTROL EQUIPMENT: Leeds+Northrup MAX 1 DCS with the following components: (2) Operator Stations (1) Operator Station Second Screen (6) Auto Backup Controller File Pairs (1) Distributed Processing Unit (DPU) for SOE (3) Remote cabinets to handle specific areas of the plant. 1435 Total I/O Supplied: 405 AI 88 AO 120 TC 560 DI 208 DO 14 RTD 8 PI 32 SOE SPECIAL FEATURES: GE Speedtronics Mark 4 Datalink IBM PC Interface for Remote Monitoring, Plant Performance Calculations and Reports
