INSTALLATION DESCRIPTION BRIEF INDUSTRY: Electric Utility APPLICATION: Coal Handling COMMERCIAL OPERATION: October 2000 TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY (TVA) CONDITIONING BUILDING PARADISE FOSSIL PLANT Drakesboro, Kentucky, USA DESCRIPTION: This is an addition to the current coal handling facilities and the previous ACS project for the automated tripper controls. Paradise’s new coal conditioning system is designed to provide supplemental coal conditioning capability and capacity. This system is integrated with the existing system by diverting coal that is fed into the current conditioning building, crushing the coal, and then transporting the crushed coal into the facility. The new system consists of 4 diverter gates, 3 belt conveyors, 2 feeders, and 2 crushers. CONTROL EQUIPMENT: Modicon “Quantum” Series PLC with the following components:
Hot standby CPU’s MODBUS Plus data highway 404 Total I/O Supplied: 40 AI 20 AO 272 DI 64 DO 8 TC Used the existing - Gateway 2000, Control Room NT PC with Intellution FIX32 HMI graphics package, Modicon “Concept” programming software and 20” touchscreen. SPECIAL FEATURES: Interface to new Toshiba drives, with all of the drive data being displayed on the HMI graphics. |
